Appraisal Survey

The boat appraisal survey (or "C & V" condition and valuation) is conducted to determine the fair market value and condition of a vessel. The appraisal survey is often required for financing, estate settlements, donations, and legal cases. The survey can be performed in or out of water. The focus of the marine appraisal survey is limited to setting a fair market value based and overall condition.  The survey report will contain basic vessel information, comments and establish the fair market value.

Financing: Most lenders will ask for a full pre purchase survey, but some are happy with a more basic inspection. Talk with your lender to determine their specific survey requirements.

Estate Settlements: The estate executor may need to determine value and condition of an inherited vessel. Our boat appraisal survey is unbiased and provides a fair market value to assist with estate settlements.

Legal Cases: The boat appraisal survey is used to determine fair market value and overall condition for divorce and other disputes. Inspections are performed without bias regardless of who orders the survey. If you are in need of an expert witness to testify for your legal case contact us to discuss.

Donations: Did you know you can donate your vessel and claim a tax break? The IRS requires donations exceeding $5,000 to be apprised by a professional Marine Surveyor to determine the fair market value. Because tax law is constantly changing, please check with your CPA, tax attorney and the IRS for current guidelines.

Marine Appraisal Survey Rate: Starting at $750
